Project Director – Civil & Structural (FIFA Stadium Project)

Stafford Lawrence is seeking a project leadership specialist for a major Civil and Structural Main Contractor Package on a FIFA World Cup Stadium in Saudi Arabia. Executed as part of the main contractor delivery organisation. This package encompasses deep foundations, structural framing, precast/cast-in-place concrete tiers, integrated testing & commissioning (T&C), operational readiness, and final handover. We’re looking for senior civil and structural engineering leaders with direct experience delivering complex civil and structural packages for major sports infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities & Scope

  • Overall Project Delivery: Strategic leadership of project execution from deep foundations through to structural framing, precast/cast-in-place concrete tiers, integrated testing & commissioning (T&C), operational readiness, and final handover.

  • Civil & Structural Engineering Oversight: Direct technical and operational management of complex earthworks, deep basements, massive foundations, structural concrete, and intricate long-span steel roof structures.

  • Specialist Interface Management: Seamless coordination across multi-disciplinary interfaces, as well as integration with architectural finishes, heavy MEP risers, and specialist field engineering teams.

  • Stakeholder Management: Primary interface coordinating with Client, PMC, Supervision Consultants, Designers, Local Authorities, and Subcontractors.

  • Governance & Project Controls: Full management of project risks, commercial performance, FIDIC contracts, procurement, schedule, quality, and HSE compliance.

  • Team Leadership: Directing and motivating a large, multi-disciplinary project team on-site.

Key Candidate Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognized university.

  • Experience: 20–25+ years of total engineering experience,( post degree experience) with at least 10+ years in senior project leadership roles (Project Director / Senior Project Manager).

  • Major Stadium Track Record (MANDATORY): Proven experience delivering major stadium or international sports venue projects (e.g., FIFA World Cup, Olympic Games, UEFA, or AFC venues).

  • Main Contractor Background: (MANDATORY) Strong Tier-1 Main Contractor / EPC background, working on STADIUM projects, managing large-scale site delivery, direct labor, subcontracts, and commercial risk. Your experience with a Main Contractor must show experience working on Large scale Stadium projects.

  • Mega-Project Scale: Experience on mega projects.

  • Technical & Commercial Mastery: Solid understanding of FIDIC contracts, project controls, structural quality assurance, and stakeholder management.

  • GCC / KSA Experience: Prior experience in Saudi Arabia or the wider GCC region highly preferred.

[ ] MAJOR STADIUM TRACK RECORD (MANDATORY): Direct, hands-on experience delivering permanent, major sports venues for Tier-1 international events (FIFA World Cup, Olympic Games, UEFA, or AFC). (Note: Temporary event overlay profiles will be rejected).

[ ] TIER-1 MAIN CONTRACTOR BACKGROUND: Proven track record working directly for major EPC Main Contractors managing large-scale site delivery, direct labor, subcontracts, and commercial risk (not purely PMC, Client-side, or Consultancy). MUST have worked with a main contractor on Stadium projects

[ ] MEGA-PROJECT SCALE: Proven execution background on complex, mega-scale projects (SAR 3 Billion+ / $800M+ budget scale).

[ ] TECHNICAL & COMMERCIAL MASTERY: Expert command of heavy concrete, structural steel erection, project controls, stakeholder management, and FIDIC contracts / claims.

[ ] GCC / KSA EXPERIENCE: Direct, recent experience delivering mega-projects within Saudi Arabia or the wider GCC region.
