Senior Hydraulic Design Engineer (Water & Wastewater)

The Role: We are representing a premier international engineering consultancy currently expanding their core design team in Muscat. We are seeking a Senior Hydraulic Design Engineer- Wastewater to take full technical ownership of complex hydraulic modelling and detailed network design for a flagship regional project.

Note to Applicants: This is a pure, hands-on, technical delivery role. You will be the project’s technical subject matter expert. We are looking for an engineer who thrives on the precision of modelling and design rather than the administrative burden of project management. You will be expected to drive the technical design workload and ensure the highest standards of accuracy for the entire team.

PLEASE NOTE: We are seeking a candidate with very strong Wastewater Design experience for this position, you should have a minimum of 60% Wastewater, 40% Clean Water experience. Extensive experience of Transient Surge Analysis is MANDATORY.

Candidates who are currently Project Managers or Design Managers need not apply, this is a PURE HANDS ON DESIGN ROLE. Design experience MUST be current.

Key Responsibilities for the Senior Hydraulic Design Engineer

  • Technical Sovereignty: Lead the design, simulation, and optimisation of water, sewer, and stormwater systems through personal, hands-on modeling.

  • Modelling Excellence: Perform complex hydraulic modelling using software such as WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, OR  Bentley HAMMER 

  • Technical Oversight: Review and validate design inputs and outputs, ensuring technical excellence and compliance with international codes.

  • Design Leadership: Act as the technical authority, mentoring junior staff by demonstrating best practices through your own active design work.

  • Documentation: Produce high-quality technical reports, detailed calculations, and IFC-level design outputs with minimal oversight.

Mandatory Requirements for the Senior Hydraulic Design Engineer

  • Experience: Minimum 12-15 years of professional experience post degree in water and wastewater hydraulic design. 12 years experience of Design POST DEGREE is the MINIMUM, candidates with less experience will not be considered under any circumstances.

  • Core Technical Focus: Demonstrated expertise in wastewater-first projects; you must have significant experience in both gravity and pressurized (force main) systems.

  • Software Mastery: Expert-level, recent, and hands-on proficiency in SewerGEMS is non-negotiable.

  • Independence: Proven ability to work autonomously, delivering complex technical designs while simultaneously ensuring the technical accuracy of team outputs.

  • Technical Depth: Extensive experience in transmission/distribution systems, pumping station design, and urban hydraulic infrastructure.

  • Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s degree highly preferred).

Salary & Benefits for the Senior Hydraulic Design Engineer

  • Total Package: 1100– 1,400 OMR per month (All-inclusive). Dependent Upon Experience. This salary package is NOT negotiable as it is inline with our clients salary bandings in the region. PLEASE NOTE: Salaries in OMAN are less than the rest of the Middle East as the cost of living is less.

  • Additional: Visa, medical coverage, and flight allowances are provided in addition to the fixed salary.
