Job Description

An exceptional client-side opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor (or M&E Quantity Surveyor) to join an established owner-developer operating across major critical infrastructure assets in Helsinki, Finland. Representing the client, this permanent role focuses on commercial governance and post-contract delivery across an active portfolio of hyper-scale data centre facilities.

Given the heavy mechanical and electrical composition of mission-critical facilities, candidates with dedicated M&E Quantity Surveying backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply alongside Senior Quantity Surveyors with general Data Centre delivery experience.

Candidates are welcome from Developer, Consultancy, as well as Main Contractor backgrounds, provided you possess direct, hands-on commercial management experience within the data centre sector.

Key Responsibilities & Post-Contract Focus

  • Client Commercial Representation: Protect the client’s financial interests and oversee cost control across six operational and expanding data centre developments.

  • Claims & Dispute Governance: Detailed assessment, negotiation, and resolution of contractor extension of time (EOT) claims, loss and expense claims, and major variations (including complex M&E variations).

  • Final Accounts Settlement: Direct client-side negotiation and finalization of major main contract, MEP packages, and sub-contract final accounts.

  • Contract Administration & Audit: Manage main contractor terms, change management protocols, and contractual risk profiles.

  • Valuations & Cash Flow: Audit contractor monthly applications, verify variations, and deliver accurate cost-to-complete and cash flow forecasting for the board.

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 10 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor, M&E Quantity Surveyor, or Commercial Manager within construction.

  • Data Centre Expertise: 2+ years’ direct commercial management experience on Data Centre / Mission Critical projects (strong M&E / MEP package experience is a requirement).

  • Background: Client-side/Developer experience preferred, but consultancy or main contractor backgrounds with strong data centre exposure are welcomed.

  • Right to Work: EU/EEA Citizenship required for direct right-to-work in Finland (UK passport holders must hold existing EU status/work rights). MANDATORY

  • Skills: Strong post-contract claim evaluation skills, negotiation expertise, in addition to client-side commercial leadership.

Salary & Package

  • Total Package: Open to negotiation for the right candidate.

  • Annual Leave: 25 days paid annual holiday, in addition to all national public holidays (11 statutory public holidays in Finland).

  • Permanent client-side stability across a long-term portfolio of 6 local data centre sites.

  • Comprehensive Finnish employment benefits package, including local statutory holiday entitlements
